University of Northampton drives local partnerships with China

Date 12.04.2018

The University of Northampton wants to build strong links between local businesses and China’s next gen automotive industry.

The University’s China and Emerging Economies Centre (CEEC) is hosting a free event named ‘Doing Business in China’ at the Park Campus on the evening of 19 April.

It will feature a talk from Dr. Jun Qiao, Chief Engineer of the UK R&D Centre at Changan – a leading Chinese automotive manufacturer. Dr. Qiao will discuss the latest innovations in New Energy Vehicle Technology Development in China.

This event is the first in a planned series of international business showcases hosted by the CEEC. It will provide greater understanding of the opportunities, and challenges, of doing business in some of the world’s largest and fastest growing economies.

The CEEC made the news last year, by joining forces with the prestigious British Motorsport Festival in Beijing, with the aim of developing research, trade and investment between British and Chinese companies.

Dr Shaowei He, Associate Professor in International Business and Director of the CEEC said: “Events like these are a great way to facilitate UK-China collaboration on high performance engineering. The key aim for this event is to raise local awareness of business opportunities in China and help engage local businesses with this market.

“From the University’s perspective it could be invaluable for staff to gain research access and consultancy opportunities, and for students to gain future international job opportunities.”

The ‘Doing Business in China’ event will take place on 19 April, 5.30-8pm, in the Cottesbrooke building (Room C126), Park Campus, Northampton NN2 7AL.
