Big Band Concert with Georgina Jackson
The University of Salford Big Band is extremely delighted to have as this year’s featured guest artist, internationally renowned musician Georgina Jackson. Trumpet maestro and a BBC Proms singer from 2017, Georgina joins the Salford University Bid Band, performing some of your favourite songs from the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee and Nancy Wilson, to name just a few.
Georgina has earned a reputation as one of this country’s finest lead trumpet players, having worked domestically and internationally with artists including Frank Sinatra Junior, Nancy Sinatra, Seal, and even performing a duet with Arturo Sandoval at 2016’s International Trumpet Guild Conference. Not content to rest on these auspicious laurels, however, she has since achieved great acclaim as a Big Band singer, guesting with the BBC Radio 2 Big Band, holding a resident position with the Ronnie Scott’s Big Band, and topping the iTunes Jazz chart with her album ‘Watch What Happens’.
The evening will also feature the talented soloists and vocalists of the University Big Band, directed by Tim France.
